Lahinch Beach
Lahinch Blue Flag beach is very popular with both tourists and locals. The flooding tide is suitable for surfing, sea kayaking and kite surfing.
Conditions are best for bass, flounder and plaice while using ragworm, sandeel and lugworm.
Lahinch Beach has full-time lifeguards on duty for July and August from 11am to 7 pm daily.
Lahinch Beach has been awarded the Blue Flag award. The Blue Flag award is an exclusive eco-label awarded to more than 3,000 beaches and marinas in 28 countries in the Northern Hemisphere. It symbolises high standards in the following areas: Environmental education and information, Environmental management, Water quality, Safety and services. Local visitors play a key part in keeping the Blue Flag prestige by taking responsibility for their dogs and for their litter. On the beaches, as elsewhere, everybody is asked to do their bit for the environment.
Fanore Beach
Fanore Beach offers one of the most beautiful landscape of County Clare. With the imposing mass of the Burren in the background, Fanore is full of contrasts. The color of sand is of different shades from yellow to almost black.
Located just over 12kms from Ballyvaughan, Fanore means 'the golden strand'.
